Thank you for choosing Umstead Green! Founded by John and Dana Richards in 2014, Umstead Green Landscape Management Inc. is a family-owned and operated, full-service landscape management company that provides service throughout the Triangle and surrounding areas in North Carolina.
John has over 25 years of experience in the landscape industry, working his way from the ground up! His career began with a summer job as a teenager in New Jersey, followed by founding a landscape firm that is still in business today. After making his way down south, he worked with several of the larger landscape management operations in North Carolina. Eventually, John decided it was time to start his own landscape company – and the best place to do that was Raleigh. Dana is a Raleigh native and brings over 15 years of experience in community management, working with commercial and residential owners’ associations. After giving birth to twins in 2017, Dana opted to leave HOA management to work with Umstead Green full time.
Communication and team-building are what separates Umstead Green from the rest! The company owner is on-site at each property on a regular basis, supervising crews to ensure no area is overlooked. Our employees are a part of a valuable team that is trained to keep the customer up-to-date on every aspect of maintenance. Our commitment to our customers is to deliver a consistent stream of communication and quality service. This is achieved by routine property updates so you know what was performed and when it was performed. We aim to be proactive in our recommendations to ensure that you are always aware of what can help improve the health of the plant material on your property.
Here are a few things we offer that you may not find at your average landscape company:
- We prune all our properties 3-4 times per year and we prune swimming pool areas monthly during the summer! This beats the industry standard of 2 times per year.
- All our Bermuda turf is aerated annually each summer, and all fescue turf is aerated and seeded in fall with Blue Tag fescue seed.
- We plant flowers to consider the shape and height of your monument. Your sign will never be blocked by plant material!
- Our rigorous turf program includes 6 total treatments throughout the year.
- We provide quarterly updates to all our accounts outlining accomplishments and upcoming services. We encourage providing these reports to board members and ownership to keep everyone in the loop.
- Our business developer/co-owner retains a CMCA designation and over 10 years in property management, which means we understand how to interact with property managers as well as board members.
- We retain a landscape designer on staff to dream up whatever outdoor space you can imagine!
